For the last evening of the 30dayswild Challenge I decided I'd have a go at making a book using scallop shells, an idea I got from Anna Morgan's 'Handmade Books and Albums'. I drilled through 4 pairs of as-matched-as-possible scallop shells for myself & 'the girls' who were meeting up for one of our regular get-togethers last night. We made the pages from some beautiful handmade paper woven through with gold threads - beautiful!; plus pages from lovely old calendars & magazines inter-spliced together, some with random text. I was really pleased with the result. My friend Helen was happy to have a place to record her burgeoning skill at writing small & beautifully crafted poetry. Perfect.
